MACOMB, IL - - When current student Tara Williams thinks of 91传媒, she thinks of a time in her life that will always hold a special place in her heart.

鈥淲hen I think about 91传媒, I think about all the accomplishments I made and all the wonderful professors and peers I met and interacted with,鈥 Williams said. 鈥 I feel great and happy, 91传媒 will forever be a part of me.鈥

For Williams, being a Leatherneck not only represents a sense of belonging to 91传媒 but is also a symbol of strength.

鈥淎 Leatherneck means the school I belong to, our mascot,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淭o me, it means being tough.鈥

Williams鈥 favorite Leatherneck memory is the guidance she received from her mathematics professor.

鈥淢eeting with my professor, Mrs. Felt, is my favorite memory,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淪he taught me math all over and it was fun and interesting. I felt like I was in fourth grade, eager to learn something new.鈥

As a student, William feels that 91传媒 is preparing her to succeed in a teaching career.

鈥91传媒 put me on a path for greatness and unlimited opportunities,鈥 Williams said.

To prospective students, William鈥檚 advice is to stay curious and be brave.

鈥淐ommunicate and stay open to new ideas,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淒on't be afraid to take the risk and fly.鈥

As we honor 125 years of educational excellence, we invite local 91传媒 students, alumni, faculty and staff to share their stories and be featured in our series. Contact University Communications at U-Communications@wiu.edu to participate.
