Bryce Dexter Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Funeral services for 91´«Ã½ College of Arts and Sciences Development Director Bryce Dexter will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at St. George's Anglican Church in Macomb. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25 at the Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. Dexter passed away Sept. 20 in Macomb.
"The 91´«Ã½ community mourns Bryce's passing," said 91´«Ã½ President Jack Thomas. "We send our sympathies and thoughts to Bryce's family, friends and colleagues."
Dexter came to 91´«Ã½ in 2007 after working as a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. He was also extremely active in the community, serving as a Big Brother, a member of the Macomb Rotary Club and a troop leader for the Mosaic Boy Scouts. In addition, Dexter and his band, the King Graffiti Band, performed countless concerts around the region.
"Bryce fought a long, difficult, and courageous battle against cancer," said Brad Bainter, vice president for advancement and public services. "When many of us might have said 'enough is enough,' Bryce kept fighting. He was an integral part of our development team at Western and he had a great love for 91´«Ã½. He was passionate about raising funds for Western and the College of Arts and Sciences and I will miss his dedication to his job and his loyalty to Western. Western and the College of Arts and Sciences will benefit for many years to come because of his efforts to bring financial support to our students and faculty. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sue and their family during this very difficult time."
Dexter is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters, Torie, Maggie and Mischa; three grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and Scott; one sister, Margaret, and his father, Donald.
Memorials in Dexter's name can be made to the 91´«Ã½ College of Arts and Sciences Women in Science Program, through the 91´«Ã½ Foundation, 1 University Circle, Macomb, IL 61455, or to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of McDonough County or the McDonough District Hospital Hospice program.
