How to Apply

To apply for the Master of Music in Music Education program, candidates will complete the following:

  1. Complete the 91´«Ã½ School of Graduate Studies Application
  2. Submit the following supporting materials via this (email Dr. Gina Yi at gj-yi@wiu.eduÌýwith any questions)
    • A goals statement that also outlines your philosophy of music education (about 500 words)Ìý
    • A YouTube link to a video sample of classroom or ensemble teachingÌý(about 10 minutes)Ìý
    • 2 letters of recommendation
  3. Complete an interview with the 91´«Ã½ Music Education faculty. The interview can be conducted live or via an online video conferencing platform (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom). Contact Dr. Gina Yi at gj-yi@wiu.eduÌýto set up a day/time for your interview.
  4. Contact your previous collegesÌýand request official transcriptsÌýbe sent directly to the 91´«Ã½ School of Graduate Studies.

Note: The 91´«Ã½ School of Graduate Studies accepts applications on a "rolling basis," so there is no specific application deadline; however, applicants are encouraged to apply early to ensure enrollment in required courses.
